02What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to work, remember your choices and, where you agree, help us understand how the website is used. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels, work in a comparable way and are covered by this policy too.
Cookies set by us are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another provider, such as our website platform or an analytics service, are third-party cookies.
03The law that applies
We use cookies in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the EU ePrivacy rules and the EU GDPR. Under these rules we must ask for your consent before setting any cookie that is not strictly necessary.
04The types of cookies we use
| Category | What it does | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Makes the website work and keeps it secure, for example remembering your cookie choice, loading pages correctly and protecting forms from spam. | No. These are always active. |
| Preferences | Remembers choices you make to improve your experience, such as display settings. | Yes |
| Statistics | Helps us understand how visitors use the website, for example which pages are viewed and how visitors arrive, so we can improve it. | Yes |
| Marketing | Used to measure or personalise marketing across websites. | Yes |
We only use the categories needed for our website. The cookie declaration in section 7 shows exactly which cookies are currently set in each category.
05How we ask for consent
Our website runs on Squarespace, and we use Cookiebot (Usercentrics A/S) to manage cookie consent. When you first visit, a cookie banner gives you three options:
- Allow all: accept all cookie categories;
- Deny: accept only necessary cookies;
- Allow selection: accept only the categories you have ticked.
Non-essential cookies are blocked until you make a choice, and no categories are pre-selected. Rejecting non-essential cookies does not affect your ability to use the website, read our content, complete our self-check or contact us.
Cookiebot records your consent choice, the date and time, and an anonymised identifier as proof of consent. Your choice is remembered for 12 months, after which we will ask you again.
06Changing or withdrawing your consent
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, which reopens your cookie preferences. Withdrawing consent does not affect cookies set before you withdrew it.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block necessary cookies, some parts of the website may not work properly.
07Cookie declaration
The list below shows the cookies currently used on our website, with their provider, purpose, type and duration. It is generated and kept up to date automatically by Cookiebot through regular scans of our website.

08Third parties and international transfers
Some cookies are set by third-party providers, such as Squarespace, which may process data in the United States. Where this happens, the safeguards described in section 9 of our Privacy Policy apply. For more information about how these providers use data, please see their own privacy and cookie policies.
09Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies we use or when the law changes. The latest version will always be on this page with its “Last updated” date. If a change means we need your consent again, our cookie banner will ask you.
